Rhodes is a treasure of history and culture, shaped by centuries of diverse influences. From its days as a bustling trade hub to its strategic importance in ancient and modern times, the island offers a journey through time. Explore its monuments, art, architecture, and historical sites to uncover the richness of its heritage. Here are some must-see favorites:

MUSEUM OF MODERN GREEK ART

The Museum of Modern Greek Art comprises three branches, each showcasing captivating works of art in different genres.

One of the branches occupies a historic building at the entrance of the Medieval City and carries an extensive permanent collection of paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings, and documents pertinent to the Greek art of the 20th century and its most representative creators.

The second space in the historic Sissitio a few steps from the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights, where it organizes visiting exhibitions and cultural events.
A third branch of the museum, the New Art Gallery, just across the street from the hotel, hosts Greek contemporary art exhibitions featuring both established and emerging artists like C. Parthenis, F. Kontoglou, Theophilos, N. Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas, Fassianos, Moralis, and many others. The highlight of the gallery is a permanent collection featuring works by Valias Semertzidis, a master of Rodian landscapes.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF RHODES

One of the most visited attractions of Rhodes, the Aquarium stands on the Cape of the Windmills at the northernmost edge of the island. It enjoys a landscape of stunning views, with the infinite azure of the sea as an inspired background for its Art-Deco architecture imagined by Italian architect Armando Bernabiti between 1934 and 1935. The Rhodes Aquarium serves both as a family-friendly tourist attraction and research center. It boasts several tanks with some 80,000 liters of filtered seawater, creating a safe habitat for a wide range of marine species from the Aegean Sea.

OTHER MONUMENTS

Rhodes combines a tapestry of architectural styles, monuments, and magnetic attractions. There’s a photo-op everywhere you turn, from the scenic Mandraki Harbor, onto the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Medieval City of Rhodes, and to the New Town. You’ll spend moments of bliss strolling down on narrow alleyways or walking in awe on the Street of the Knights, gazing at some of the monumental buildings, where the Knights Hospitaller immortalized some of the most intriguing pages of the history of the island in the 15th and 16th centuries.
